- Collaboration- Princess Anne High School students are teaming up with the Ocean Park Rescue Squad to create a vibrant community art mural. Additionally, Summer Paradiso, a talented artist, will generously donate her skills and guide the mural creation process.
We are a student-led group at Princess Anne High School who have partnered with the non-profit Ocean Park Rescue Squad to design and paint a mural along the side of their two-story building. Our mural design was created by students to incorporate themes of Virginia Beach and honors the history of the rescue squad and Ocean Park area. Our student committee is also completing all the fundraising, advertising, and some of the painting, so we need your help!
Our mission is to create a mural that promotes the identity of the Ocean Park area and attracts tourists as they travel down Shore Drive. First, you will see the LOVE sign followed by our postcard-inspired mural, then crossing the Lesner Bridge you spot a kayak structure, followed by the Cape Henry Lighthouses located at the edge of our neighborhood. This piece of public art will commemorate the dedicated work of the Rescue Squad as well as capture iconic and historical components of Virginia Beach.
Summer Paradiso has generously donated her talents and abilities to our cause by being the leading artist and a paramount source of knowledge while taking on this mural. Paradiso has done murals in the ViBe District and is a full time artist. She has been integral in providing us direction in our process and will help paint the mural.
Donors who whish to donate by check should make their check payable to OPVRS, with "Mural" in the subject line.
